Did you know that Mac has released a collaboration with Electronic Arts gaming juggernart, The Sims?

If you’ve played The Sims 4, you’ll know that an update was introduced in 2020 saw Sims donning Mac Makeup eyeliner styles that were likened to sperm. Fast forward nearly a year and the release was undoubtedly inevitable.

That’s right, legendary makeup’ brand, Mac has teamed up with the life simulation platform that brought us Simlish, cow plants and The Urbz with The Black Eyed Peas – which is still one of the best games ever.

What did Mac deliver?

A $32, 9 shade mix of warm and cool hues inspired by the latest skin tone update for The Sims which saw over 100 skin tones added to the game. – Shade names include: Soot, Moon Rock, Blackberry and Lunar Cycle.

According to Mac Director of Makeup Artistry, Romero Jennings said via press release that the palette is offers versatile combinations, with “textures ranging from frosty to Pearl to lustre.”

However eagle eyed cosmetic creators were quick to notice that the palette is seemingly the 2017 Solar Glow eyeshadow palette with a new sleeve.

Sit back and think of The Sims and the chaos generated from creating your own reality where money wasn’t an issue if you used motherlode.

Now, imagine the tones and hues that could be used if you emerged yourself into the limitless games. Not to mention the inspiration that could be drawn from expansion packs such as: Makin’ Magic, Seasons, Island Paradise and Eco Lifestyle.

There could be Schmapple Fridge silver, simoleon green and Vertuoso Violin shades of brown and mahogany. There’s Bone Hilda, clashing wallpaper and that hideous heart bed – limitless. Not to mention purple…

No matter how many times I look at this palette and colour collection and all I can think of is how meh this is. Wrapping a release in blue, shoving a logo on it and giving it a vague branding link is underwhelming and a cop out.

Of course that’s only my opinion. However, many gamers are unhappy with the collab.

What do you think about The Sims X Mac collaboration? Will you be buying the new release? Share your thoughts and feelings with me on social media – it’s lockdown 3 so I need the entertainment.
